Whilst we are all familiar with the BMW logo or ‘roundel’ as it is known, how many know where it originated from?
The most commonly held belief is that it represents a spinning aircraft propeller as BMW started life as an aircraft engine manufacturer in 1917.
However, this interpretation came several years after the company was formed. The real origin of the blue and white centre to the logo is given by the Bavarian national flag which is of a of blue and white checkered design.
