BMW’s CS Concept car is certainly a stunning piece of engineering. Whilst a year has passed since it was originally unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show in April last year, there still does not appear to be any concrete evidence of it reaching production.
Many have said that the CS concept in its current form is an obvious competitor to the Mercedes CLS. There have been other suggestions as to the cars it is designed to compete with but it is all pure speculation until more is known about the production specification, engines and prices.
Two suggestions that have been in circulation are that it will go into production as the new 8 Series or a 4 door version of the new 6 Series. Whilst these may be educated guesses, I suspect that it will set the style for the next generation of BMWs, especially the next 5 and 7 series models.
From the rear of the car, design cues seem to have been taken from the current 6 Series and 7 Series models.
Should these 21 inch alloys make it into production, it continues the trend of increasing wheel sizes with each new generation of models. One wonders how long this trend will continue?
